Technical Coordinator (Food Industry Technical Professional degree apprentice)
Supporting the Technical and Quality department in key areas of the business where resource is required to keep the business legally compliant and meet the expectations of customers and the BRC Food Standard.
The Role:
· Assist with packaging and raw material approval and liaise with QA/Document Controller and Procurement to ensure all relevant databases updated
· Assist with maintenance of accurate and up to date technical information files for all live Raw Materials, Formulations, Finished Specifications and Packaging
· Liaise with suppliers to request outstanding documentation and information, developing professional positive relationships
· Liaise with NPD, projects and procurement on new ingredient and packaging requirements
· To monitor Customer Technical Policy and advise Group Regulatory Manager and Quality Manager of any changes
· Working with all stakeholders, ensure products to purchase are fully approved in a timely manner
· Collate samples of each batch of finished product, send to the relevant external laboratory to undergo micro or assay testing in accordance with schedule
· Manage independent analysis reports, read reports, maintain the files and report out of spec results to the Group Regulatory Manager and Quality Manager as/when they arise
· Assist with Pack Copy & Artwork approval – to ensure Labelling compliance is maintained in line with current Regulation in appertaining market.
· To develop and maintain awareness of legislative requirements for product formats and categories in terms of composition and labelling
· Assist with completion and maintenance of retail customer technical systems / documentation requirements
· To carry out specification and technical documentation reviews ensuring maintenance of full traceability of raw materials and packaging.
· To maintain HACCP product information for all live raw materials, semi-finished products and finished products in line with BRC requirements
· Administrative tasks for Export documentation requirements
· Assist during BRC and customer audits and their preparation
· Assist the Technical and Quality Assurance team in any area where resource is required
This is an apprenticeship with a commitment of 3.5 – 4 years completing a BSC degree in Professional Practice in Food Technology. Applicants must have English and Maths GSCE at grade 4 and 96 UCAS Points to apply.
You will learn on the job and will complete a Degree apprenticeship; this will require attendance at Sheffield Hallam University up to 6 times in year 1.
